History of UG

In the summer of 2019, the idea for UrbanGrow was developed by the founder Elvis Begic during his time at university. As a student of global business, he envisioned a re-introduction of the localization of food though modern technology. Bringing back local and organcic food instead of global complex supply chains would be the only way to solve growing food deserts in urban areas. After a pause during covid, UG obtained resources to develop a mobile app with the help from University of Illinois Chicago. Currently, the app called"UG" will be in beta testing in local farmers markets in Chicago for the summer of 2026.
